Privacy Policy
Effective date: .
This policy explains what information festusdatacenter.org ("the site") collects, how it's used, and your choices. The site is published as a public information resource about the proposed Festus, Missouri data center project. We try to collect as little as possible.
1. What we collect
1a. Information you give us
If you submit the signup form in the "Get involved" section, we collect what you provide: typically a name, an email address, an optional ZIP code, and one or more role checkboxes (resident, press, policymaker, etc.). The form is opt-in. You do not need to provide a ZIP code to subscribe.
1b. Information collected automatically
Like most websites, basic technical information about each visit — your IP address, the time of the request, and the page or file you requested — is briefly recorded to keep the site available and to detect abuse. This information is not used to identify you personally or to build a profile of you.
If we later turn on privacy-friendly aggregate analytics, this section will be updated. Any analytics used by this site will be cookie-free and will not fingerprint visitors.
2. What we don't collect
- No advertising or marketing trackers.
- No third-party analytics by default (Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, etc. are not used).
- No cross-site cookies.
- No location data beyond what your network connection naturally exposes (your IP address).
3. How we use information
- Signup form data is used to send project update emails and, optionally, to segment those updates by role (e.g., separate notices to press vs. residents).
- Server logs are used to keep the site available and to investigate abuse, errors, or security incidents.
- Aggregate analytics, if enabled, are used to understand which pages are read and improve content.
We do not sell your information. We do not share signup data with the developer (CRG / Clayco) or the City of Festus.
4. Third-party services
The site relies on a small number of third-party services. Their privacy policies govern any data they receive.
- Hosting and security — a standard web-hosting service delivers the pages, manages the SSL certificate, and blocks abusive traffic.
- Form processor (if configured) — the signup form, once wired, will submit to a form-handling service. This section will be updated to name that service and link to its privacy policy.
- External links — links to
festusmo.gov,realcrg.com,claycorp.com, news outlets, and government agencies leave this site and are governed by those sites' policies.
5. Cookies and similar technologies
By default, this site sets no cookies of its own. Our hosting infrastructure may briefly set a security cookie for abuse-prevention purposes. If analytics or a form provider are enabled in the future and they set additional cookies, this section will be updated.
6. Your choices
- Unsubscribe — every project update email includes an unsubscribe link. You can also reply asking to be removed.
- Access / deletion — to request a copy of, or deletion of, any signup data we hold about you, use the contact path in §8.
- Do Not Track — we honor the spirit of DNT by not running advertising or cross-site tracking regardless of your browser setting.
7. Children
This site is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted information, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Contact
Questions, access requests, or deletion requests can be sent to the publisher of this site via the contact channel listed on the Get involved section. We respond to legitimate requests within a reasonable time.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time — for example, when wiring a new form provider or enabling analytics. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Effective date" at the top of this page.
10. About the site itself
Festus Data Center at festusdatacenter.org is a public
information page. Facts are drawn from public reporting and a comprehensive resource
guide on the project; recommended developer commitments are labeled as proposals, not
statements of fact. The site is not authored by, and is not the official site of, CRG,
Clayco, or the City of Festus.
